#DrSuarez shares some indications to follow after a #MommyMakeover
You will need to sleep sitting up, to avoid putting any tension on the incisions, from the abdomen and breasts. Because there is tightening of the abdominal muscles, you will experience some difficulty standing up straight for a week or two or even longer. During this period, you may find it more comfortable to place a pillow or two under your knees while in bed. The tightness will gradually disappear as you heal and progressively use your body muscles for the activities of daily living. Please make no special attempts to stretch or pull the abdomen straight during the first few weeks of healing.
You will need to wear the compression garments provided buy us, which is a bra and girdle (faja), for a period of 6 week, it is very important to use them for the time indicated since it will help diminish swelling, and also ONLY wear the compression garment given by Dr. Suarez, please do not take it upon yourself to decide to change especially your girdle, because it can be harmful to your results and prolonge your recovery.
It is important to empty the drains twice a day, you will have to drain each one every 12 hours (in the morning and before going to bed). In order to do that, take off the hose, empty the container, then make pressure over it and connect the hose back to the container to keep the vacuum. We are giving you a drainage control sheet on which you will be putting the amounts of drainage of each time you empty your drains you have to do this in order to keep track of how much you are draining, you will have to write the amount of each one, that way Dr. Suarez will be able to determine when you will be able to remove them.
You will only need to remove the stitches from the bellybutton, all the other ones are dissolvable.
First 2 weeks, no activities, only the bare minimum, after that you will be able to slowly start to do a little more like, driving, cooking, and such, it will depend a lot on how you feel, but physical stuff will most likely be able to be done around the 6 week mark. Too much initial activity can prolong swelling. Listen to your body.
