Body Lift Surgery

When this occurs, you look for a procedure to help gain that confidence back, a Body Lift would be the best procedure to make you fall back in love with yourself.

People who search to have a Body Lift are ones you have undergone Bariatric Surgery, which includes a Gastric Sleeve, Bypass, Duodenal Switch etc. Procedures that cause large amounts of weight loss, causing excessive excess skin, which can only be effectively removed by undergoing a Tummy Tuck, a surgery that removes the pendulums of abdominal tissue, lower back, hips, pubis, and buttocks. Thanks to this procedure, it is possible to perfect body aesthetics.

  • Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedures.
  • The incision made will depend on the type of Tummy Tuck Dr. Suarez suggests you are a candidate for, as well as the other procedures that contribute to the type of Body Lift you choose.
  • Drains are placed, the number of drains depends on the Tummy Tuck you have.

Recovery Time

You will be asked to rest at home for one week, to take your medication, which will be given to you before you leave with written indications.

Upon your return home, light activity is permitted, such as walking, riding in a car, or any activity that is NOT strenuous. Avoid lifting or carrying small children, groceries, suitcases or anything else over 10 pounds for 6 weeks. No exercise for 6 weeks and no driving for 2 weeks.

General rest is important, DO NOT WALK IN AN UP RIGHT POSITION. Minimum activities are permitted. When going to sleep put some pillows on your back and under your knees to maintain a flexed position or sleep on your side in a crouched position, never a flat position. You should sleep with your back propped-up with pillows and bent forward at approximately 30 degrees or sleep in a recliner. This will aid in your comfort level. Normal sleeping positions can be resumed 2 – 3 weeks after surgery.

Use compression garments on a daily basis; this will prevent a series of complications such as seromas (accumulation of liquid in certain areas) and hematomas. This will also help reduce the swelling. You will use it for 4 to 6 weeks after the surgery. By this time most of the swelling will be gone. It is not uncommon for your genitalia, legs and feet to become swollen and/or bruised after surgery.
The tapes over the Tummy Tuck come off after 1 week.

Stitches don’t have to be removed, they are dissolvable, threw time the scars will be less visible. Only bellybutton stitches need to be removed, 3 weeks after.

It is important to empty the drains twice a day, you have 4 drains you will have to drain each one every 12 hours (in the morning and before going to bed). In order to do that, take off the hose, empty the container, then make pressure over it and connect the hose back to the container to keep the vacuum. We are giving you a drainage control sheet on which you will be putting the amounts of drainage of each time you empty your drains you have to do this in order to keep track of how much you are draining, you will have to write the amount of each one, that way Dr. Suarez will be able to determine when you will be able to remove them.
Overall, patience and rest are key for recovery.
